The Conjuring - The Scariest Case Ever

The first movie I will introduce is "The Conjuring"(2013). This is the movie that I found the most realistic and frightening. It features Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as the main couple. The movie is directed by James Wan.

Let me introduce the story first. The Warrens, who are very famous paranormal researchers in the U.S., have been investigating many cases. This is a story about an incident in 1917, which was taken as the most horrific case among them. And it's a true story. The case takes place in a house in the countryside of Harrisville, Rhode Island. There lived the Perron family, a young couple and their five sisters. As time progresses, they seek the help of Mr. and Mrs. Warren as the strange occurrences increase.

James Wan is a very famous Australian horror movie director. This movie is the first in a series of movies called "The Conjuring Universe" that James Wan is directing. Besides horror, he has also directed "Wild Speed Sky Mission" and "Aquaman 2".


I told you earlier that this was an actual case, didn't I? It's chilling just to hear that, but there is actually a real photo in the end roll. This is exactly what I like about this movie. It's really realistic and of high quality. Most horror movies are about a ghost that suddenly appears and scares the audience. But this movie is a little different. It scares the audience by making them feel somewhat creepy as the story progresses. Also, it won the Empire Award for Best Horror Film in 2014.




Finally, I'd like to introduce an actress you should pay attention to. Her name is Lili Taylor and she plays the mother of the Perron family, a key character in this movie. Her acting skills are tremendous and I don't think this movie would have been complete without her. Her facial expressions, movements, and tone of voice were all perfect.

" Orphan " means a child who has no parents or relatives. The Japanese title of this movie is " エスター ", named after the main character, an orphan girl named Esther. " Get Out " is a movie directed by Jordan Peele and stars Daniel Kaluuya. It was released in 2017 in the United States and won an Academy Award for Best Screenplay in 2018. I chose this one because it is a new kind of horror movie with social elements.  Now, let me introduce the story. Chris, an African-American photographer living in New York, is invited to the family home of his Caucasian girlfriend, Rose. However, there is a black servant there and he begins to feel strangely uncomfortable. As time goes by, Chris becomes uneasy about the suspicious behavior of the people around him, and this is the story of his attempt to leave her parents' house with Rose. This is in the  horror, mystery and thriller genre.  Jordan Peele is a director, screenwriter, comedian, and actor and his talent has led him to work in many other fields. The Visit - Meet Your Grandparents For The First Time

" The Visit " was released in the United States on September 11, 2015. It is directed, written and produced by M. Night Shyamalan.  The main characters are played by Olivia DeJoung and Ed Oxenbould. This movie may be a different kind of fun than the movies I've mentioned so far, as the entire story is told only through the images shot by the main characters. However, be careful if you are prone to screen sickness.
